You can depend on Antique Metal Finishing and Plating to deliver quality craftsmanship in restoring your treasures.
Each piece is inspected to determine what restoration is necessary. All items are polished and/or replated.
We are sure that the results will be nothing less than restoration and repair of unparalleled quality.
When a piece is made from brass or copper, (as opposed to being another metal plated with copper, brass or silver)
the basic process for restoration is as follows: The piece is first disassembled,
(if required) stripped of any existing laquer, paint or shellac and dipped in a mild acid to remove the worst oxidization.
At this point, any repairs or straightening are done. The piece is then polished with a smoothing
compound and then finshed with a jeweler's rouge for a bright finish. The piece is then degreased
with a hot vapor degreaser, sprayed with our tarnish-proofing epoxy and baked. Lastly, the piece is
ready for reassembly, (if required) and is then returned to you.
